Flood Prevention Work on Hawk 9-10-11 Re Scheduled

The construction project (flood repair and prevention work) and golf course closing schedule has been modified following the consulting engineers report and recommendations for strategies to address Hawk creek flood repair and prevention work.

The original plan prior to the completed consultants report was to replace existing culverts on the golf course with bridges. The theory behind this plan was to eliminate any possibility of water backing up at choke points (culverts) and preventing storm water from breaching the creek banks.

After studying water flow patterns on the golf course and upstream properties, the final analysis showed that replacing existing 1.2 Meter culverts with larger 2 Meter culverts would accomplish the same result as installing bridges at 50% of the cost.

While sourcing the required customized 2 Meter culverts, the club learned on short notice that these culverts are built to fit and will take 10 days for delivery. With this new information in hand  regarding the different approach, strategy and schedule for repairing the flood damage, the club has re opened the Hawk GC tee sheet until October 10th when the project is now scheduled to start.
